Wondering if you need help?
Many people ask if I think psychotherapy can really help. My answer is absolutely, unequivocally, yes. Having worked with a diverse client population in San Francisco (USA) for over 7 years, I can say that most people that get to the point of considering professional counseling, do, in fact, benefit from discussing what is "on their mind" with a keen therapist.
Clients have so many reasons to want to speak to a professional that it would be unrealistic to offer any type of comprehensive list. That being said, there are some more common reasons why people most typically consider seeing a therapist. These are, but are certainly not limited to:
* feeling down
* anxious
* lethargic
* paralized
* hopeless
* helpless
* or perhaps you are experiencing a general change in your "typical way of being."
Some underlying reasons might be adjustment to change, life-stage issues, marital or parenting difficulties, grief and loss issues, work problems, or addiction and chemical dependency -- though anything may trigger emotional strife and/or confusion.
If you, or someone you love, is struggling for any reason(s), I urge you to speak with a professional before the feelings become more deeply rooted, and complications of one's internal confusion or conflict spill over into other aspects of one's life and livelihood.
